Spotting Scopes
Whether your a Bird Watcher, Plane Spotter, Train Spotter or any other type of "Spotter" for that matter. The day will come when you want to upgrade those trusty Binoculars you've had for a while or Upgrade the Spotting Scope for something a bit more powerful!!
As with any item nowadays you spend spend as little as £20.00 right upto £1000+ on s decent Scope. Buy the best you can afford. Cheap Spotting scopes are cheap for a reason... If your out in the field spotting a lot go for something very rugged. Perhaps Rubber Coated. Optolyth made a Quality scope rubber coated 30x70 which a lot of Plane Spotters prefer and can be often picked up on ebay for around £100-150 mark, which is really good value for money.
Some spotting scopes offer variable magnification you need to decide whether you want a fixed on or variable. Personally i think a 20x or 30x fixed is far superior.
Next decide on the Objective lense. The big the better! This increases the light as well as offering a greater view. Obviously you have to buy what you can afford. The bigger the Objective lense you can afford the better and brighter the view should be. Buy a good Make! Your better buying a secondhand quality one than a new cheaply made one.
Most of all whatever you buy keep enjoying the Watching / Spotting.
